Signs it’s time
- Twigs or straw collecting on a ledge
- White streaks running down the wall under a sunshade
- Cooing early in the morning from the same spot
- A ventilator fan that has stopped turning
- Feathers on the floor of the balcony or staircase
Any one of these means a pair has chosen your house. The sooner the spot is closed, the less cleaning there is.
Where pigeons go in Ongole houses
Ventilators. Almost every bathroom and kitchen has one, usually with a deep ledge. A small framed net covers the outside without stopping air.
Sunshades. The concrete shade above each window gives a dry, shaded shelf. Netting the gap between shade and wall removes it.
Under roof sheets. Many roofs have a sheet over the staircase or drying area. The gap where it meets the wall is sheltered from sun and rain, which is exactly what birds want.
Behind AC units. In apartment buildings and newer houses, the outdoor unit’s bracket is the usual first nest.
What goes in
| Part | Choice |
|---|---|
| Net | UV-stabilised HDPE or nylon |
| Mesh | 50 mm for pigeons, 25 mm for sparrows |
| Colour | Transparent or black |
| Fixing | Stainless-steel hooks with a tensioned border |
What affects the price
- How many openings need covering
- The total area of net
- How high the spot is and how easy it is to reach
- Whether old nests need clearing first
We measure and give the price on site, before starting.
How we fit it
- Walk round the house and note every ledge in use.
- Measure each opening.
- Clear nests and droppings at the fixing points.
- Fix stainless hooks around the opening.
- Tension a rope or wire border.
- Tie the net to it at short intervals, with extra ties at the corners.
Looking after it
Brush off dust after the dry, windy months and look over the net after a big storm. A loose corner is quick to re-tie.
Before we come
Take a photo of each spot from the ground or a window and send them on WhatsApp. It helps us bring the right amount.

Why not spikes or a fake owl?
Spikes on a ledge often just move the pair a little further along, and birds soon learn that a plastic owl never moves. Gels and sprays wash off in the first heavy rain. A net is the only one of these that physically closes the space, so the birds have nowhere to sit and settle elsewhere.
Is it worth doing the whole house at once?
Usually, yes. Once one ledge is closed, a pair will try the next sheltered spot on the same house. If the roof-sheet gap, two ventilators and a sunshade are all in use, netting them together in one visit saves a second call-out and stops the birds simply moving round the building.
