Homes in Ongole
Most families in Ongole live in independent houses: one or two floors, a flat roof, an open or partly open staircase, and often an upper floor let to tenants. The older streets around Lawyerpet, Santhapet and Islampet have houses close together. Areas such as Bhagya Nagar, Gopal Nagar and Ram Nagar have settled family homes. Along Trunk Road, Kurnool Road and Mangamuru Road, and out towards Pernamitta, newer houses and apartment buildings have come up as the town has grown.
That shapes the work. In houses, the common jobs are roof and staircase nets, pigeon nets on ventilators and balconies, and racks for drying. In apartments, it’s balcony safety for children, nets behind AC units and nets across shafts.
What we plan for
Long, hot summers
Ongole’s summers are long and hot, and roofs and west-facing balconies take the full sun for months. Ordinary nets go brittle quickly in that heat. We use UV-stabilised HDPE and nylon, and stainless-steel hooks and anchors that won’t rust or weaken.
Rain and storms from the Bay
The northeast monsoon brings much of the year’s rain later in the year, and cyclones in the Bay of Bengal sometimes bring strong wind inland. Nets on exposed roofs and upper floors are anchored closer together and tensioned firmly, so they stay flat and tight.
Roofs that families use
In many Ongole homes, the roof is where washing dries, water tanks sit and the family gathers on warm evenings. A safety net above a low parapet, or along an open edge, makes it safe for children and older relatives alike.
Houses built in stages
Families often add a floor when they can, leaving an open roof edge in the meantime. A net along that edge makes the roof usable until building starts again.
Tenants upstairs
Where an upper floor is let, owners often net the outside staircase and the tenants’ balcony, and fit a rack so washing stays off the railings.
How a job works
Send photos of each area on WhatsApp. We arrange a visit, measure, suggest materials and give you a price before any work begins. Most homes are finished in a single visit.
