Our service in Madurai
Unlike the big metros, Madurai is still largely a city of independent houses. Two- and three-floor family homes with flat concrete roofs line the streets of Anna Nagar, K.K. Nagar, S.S. Colony, Thirunagar and most other neighbourhoods. Apartments are growing, mainly in the newer parts of the city and along the ring road, but for most families the terrace, the staircase and the windows are where safety and pigeon problems begin.
The old city around the Meenakshi temple is different again: narrow streets, older houses built close together, deep ventilators and inner courtyards, and very large numbers of pigeons.
We plan each installation around the building and how your family uses it, whether that is a terrace net for a house in Thirunagar, a pigeon net for a ventilator in Simmakkal or a balcony safety net for a new flat near the ring road.
What makes Madurai different
Long, hot summers
Madurai is inland and dry, and from March to June temperatures regularly reach the high thirties and forties. Roof terraces and west-facing windows sit in direct sun for hours. Plain plastic nets become brittle in that heat. We use UV-stabilised HDPE and nylon nets, and for invisible grills, SS 316 cables that don’t absorb heat the way thick steel bars do.
Rain from the northeast monsoon
Much of Madurai’s rain comes with the northeast monsoon from October to December, often in heavy bursts. Stainless-steel hooks and anchors are our standard, because plain iron rusts after a few wet seasons and stains walls.
Terraces as living space
In a city where houses stay warm into the night, the terrace is where many families spend their evenings, where clothes and grains are dried and where children play. Parapets on older houses are often low. A safety net above the parapet keeps the terrace fully usable while closing the edge.
Pigeons around the temple and markets
The old city’s temple streets and markets support large pigeon flocks that nest on the ventilators, sunshades and courtyards of surrounding homes. In newer areas, pigeons favour AC brackets and duct shafts in apartment buildings.
Monkeys near the hills
Thiruparankundram’s rocky hill, with its famous temple, is home to monkeys that sometimes move into nearby streets. Homes close to it may need a heavier monkey net.
