Tirupati balconies and pigeons
Balconies on the upper floors of Tirupati houses are often used for drying clothes in the morning and then left alone through the hot afternoon. That gives pigeons hours to settle on the railing, then behind pots, then in a nest. In apartments, utility balconies at the back of the building are used the same way.
Pigeon net or monkey net?
This is the first question in Tirupati. If only pigeons visit, a standard balcony pigeon net is enough. If monkeys also come onto the balcony, a pigeon net will be torn quickly. In that case, a heavy-duty monkey net with a small mesh is the better choice, because it stops both.
Planning the net
- Clothes and plants stay inside the net line.
- Existing grills stay; the net is fixed inside or outside them.
- AC units keep a clear fan and an access panel.
- Access for cleaning outer glass with a zip or hook-off panel.

Fitting
We measure the full balcony face and side openings, fix hooks along the slab edge, walls and parapet, tension the border and tie the net at close intervals, with extra ties at the corners.
Homes with rooms for pilgrims
Many Tirupati families let rooms or a floor to visiting pilgrims. A balcony net keeps the guests’ balcony clean and is a neutral fitting that suits any visitor.

Balconies across Tirupati
Near the temples and Tiruchanoor, balconies above busy streets see constant pigeon traffic, and several openings usually need netting together.
In Balaji Colony, Korlagunta and Kesavayanagunta, houses have upstairs balconies used mainly for drying, where a single net is usually enough.
Along the AIR Bypass Road and Renigunta Road, newer apartment balconies attract birds soon after families move in.
Near Alipiri and the foothills, monkeys are the bigger problem, and a heavy monkey net is the better choice.
Combining with a drying rack
If you also want a ceiling rack on the same balcony, fit both together: the net goes on the outer edge and the rods are placed so they clear it.
