Living in Kothapeta
Kothapeta’s family houses sit close to the busy centre of Chirala. Dust and birds come with the shops and traffic, and the upstairs balcony is where most families dry their washing.
Balcony pigeon nets, roof safety nets and covered drying racks are the most useful fittings here, often done together in one visit.
A net near a busy street collects dust, so rinse it with water every few weeks. It keeps the net clear and helps it last.
Older houses here often still have their original steel window grills, rusted at the joints by the salty air. Once removed, SS 316 cable grills in the same openings brighten the rooms and end the repainting.
If pigeons already use the roof-sheet gap or a ventilator, netting them on the same visit stops the birds simply moving round the house.
